The course at Junior Certificate level is designed to give students an understanding of the world of work.

The Business Studies course aims are:

• To give students practical day-to-day information which will help students make informed decisions in the everyday life.

• It helps them to make wise decisions about savings and spending their money throughout their life.

​

• Students learn about their rights as consumers and how to complain, insurance, taxation, how businesses are formed and operated on a daily basis and how products are marketed and advertised.

• Business Studies encourages students to think about how and why entrepreneurs set up their own business.  It encourages and helps students to develop an awareness of the economy and how it works.

​

• Business Studies helps students develop communication skills, planning and organising skills, money management, report and letter writing and helps to improve their mathematical skills.
