Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is changing and developing all the time. Its impact on our lives continues to grow and it is essential that the pupils of St Joseph’s can take advantage of its opportunities and understand its effects.

Computer Studies is is taught to students in junior and senior year groups. Given that Computers is not an examination subject, it is taught on its own for a limited period and then where possible used in the rest of the curriculum. Students in Junior Cycle are introduced to the Microsoft Suite of programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. They are instructed in the proper use of the internet and internet safety.

In Transition Year, students continue their study with the Microsoft Suite of Programs and also use the IT facilities for research and project work for other subjects. In St Joseph’s, many other subject teachers also make use of our Computer Rooms for their lessons. The school is also a fully-accredited test centre for the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence).
