Choosing a career is a process that takes time.

 

Throughout their time as students of St Joseph's, students are encouraged to consider seriously their career options. The Guidance Counsellor meets with all 6th year classes and Transition Year classes on a weekly basis and with 3rd and 5th year classes on a modular basis.

 

Students also meet with the Guidance Counsellor on an individual basis where career plans are discussed in the light of the student’s interests, aptitude and educational standard.

Our Guidance Counsellors, Mr Ó Síoráin and Ms Foley are available to meet with parents at Parent Teacher Meetings or at any other time by appointment.

​

Visits to Open Days in colleges are organised and many speakers come to the school to give presentations.

A Newsletter from the Guidance Counsellor is sent home with the Christmas reports of 6th years to keep parents/guardians updated on important developments in the Guidance area in school and we hope that this website will make information more accessible.
